As of now I'm watching the NHL Finals. It's good stuff. Enjoying the game. Hoping the Boston Bruins win. No reason really.

MLB 2010 Playoffs

Here you go for the playoffs.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Wild Card Round

New York defeats Texas 3-1.
This should remind you of the past seasons where these two constantly went at it in the playoffs. And just like those years, the Yanks will win again.

Minnesota defeats Los Angeles 3-2
Yeap I'm calling an upset. Trust me this will be a great series and should be entertaining. It will be close but the Twins will pull it off.

Divisional Championship

New York defeats Minnesota 4-1
Although the Twins will be scrappy, the Yankees will be on their way to another World Series.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Wild Card Round

Philadelphia defeats Cincinnati 3-2
This will be closer then what most was thinking. Cincinnati will use this for next year and try to dominate the central, Philly will move on to being great this year.

San Francisco defeats Saint Louis 3-0
For some reason I'm seeing a shutout. Espeicaly in a playoffs where the giants pitchers can dominate.

Divisional Championship

San Francisco defeats Philadelphia 4-3
This series will be awesome and will feature some great pitching and hitting. However, San Fran's 1-2 combo at pitching will overwhelm the Phillies and watch them eek out some close victories.

WORLD SERIES

New York defeats San Francisco 4-2
It will look good at first, but in the end the Yankees march on to yet another World Series title. People will go on hating the Yankees and they will continue to bolster their roster so they can get another championshp in 2011.

My MLB Predictions for 2010 - National League

East -

Philadelphia Phillies (Div Winner) - They are by far the best team and should coast through the National League.

Atlanta Braves - They're not a great team, but is better then the other teams in their division.

Florida Marlins - Don't doubt the fish. They can sneak up on you.

New York Mets - I have to put them there. They like to mess things up.

Washington Nationals - Here's hoping they actually spell their team names correctly on their jersey.

Central -

Saint Louis Cardinals (Div Winner) It pains me to say this, but they will be better then everyone else. However this division will be close.

Cincinnati Reds (Wildcard) The Machine is making it's way to be back.

Chicago Cubs - They had their one shining moment a few years ago and blew it. So now go back to mediocrity and being lovable losers.

Milwaukee Brewers - A good team but I have the feling they're missing something.

Houston Astros - They're a bad gritty team but is not last simply because this division has six teams and there is someone else who is bent on being last.

Pittsburgh Pirates - Do they even try to be successful. They haven't had a winning season in SEVENTEEN YEARS. Wow thats bad.

West -

San Francico Giants (Div Winner) I know this is a shock, but somehow this division never ceases to amaze me. This is by far the toughest division and watchout for the Bay Area Giants.

Los Angeles Dodgers - After this year, who knows, but they'll make a point to be relevant.

Arizona Diamondbacks - Like the new ride at Kings Island, they will be up and down, but will have a decent year.

Colorado Rockies - they had they're good year last season. So now they'll go back in the tank again for the next three years.

San Diego Padres - Well, football starts in September so the city should be happy about that.

My MLB Predictions for 2010 - American League

For the American League:

East -

New York Yankees (Div Winner) - Of course they're good and should repeat as champs

Tampa Rays - Actually a solid team, and could be the last year you see them like this.

Boston Red Sox - The Red Sox could jump the Rays but we'll have to see. In another division they would be the top team.

Toronto Blue Jays - Gave a lot of way, should be gritty, but won't sniff the playoffs.

Baltimore Orioles - The Orioles aren't that bad. They're just in a really good division.

Central -

Minnesota Twins (Div Winner) - I can't believe it, they're actually spending some money. Good for them in their new ballpark.

Chicago White Sox - Yeap, they'll be second.

Detroit Tigers - Should push the other two, but will find a way to lose it in the end.

Cleveland Indians - Even though I'm from Ohio, I'm not a fan. However, they will suck in the beginning and then do great things in the end to not be last.

Kansas City Royals - They're not good, just wait and see.

West -

Los Angeles (Anheim) Angels (Div Winner) - Call yourselves what you want, they will still be better then everyone else.

Texas Rangers (wild card) should be close but will be great enough to be the wild card.

Seattle Mariners - Next year they'll be on top.

Oakland Athletics - Nope, you suck. Watch out for how bad this team will be.

Start of Baseball Season

Baseball is about to begin again. So prepare for a very long and drug out summer. I would love to see maybe more teams get into the playoffs to make the season a little bit longer. Afterall, it's not fair for the teams with the highest payrolls constantly get into the playoffs and the lowest ones, never have a chance. Right now, the Pittsburgh Pirates, KC Royals, Cleveland Indians, Washington Nationals, and Baltimore Orioles have no shot of making the playoffs. They're only getting in, if dysentary or the Black Plague makes it's way to the top teams. So right now, what do those fans have to root for to start the season. Nothing. Absolutly nothing.

There is a proposal for baseball to move teams around to make it fair. Wow. I see that baseball is admitting that they don't have a great system. Oh well, until something happens many teams will have to settle for mediocrity. However, in the next post, will be my picks before the season. Then I'll revist and see how well I've done.

Elijah Dukes, just trying to help.

There’s a baseball player by the name of Elijah Dukes. He has had a troubled life and while in Tampa got into trouble. However, he has been given another chance and was able to go to the Washington Nationals. They want to change the culture of the team so they want him to not get into any trouble. Makes sense.

Then Elijah last Saturday went to the Great Falls Virginia Little League kickoff, and was 5 minutes late for his game. Initially he was suspended, however, he had to play due to injury. The team fined him, and the little league raised money to pay for this fine.

I do understand the point of the Nationals, however, this is a bad pr move. The guy was trying to help out the little league in a local area, and is efforting to get his life back. But the DC Nationals decide to punish him. I do get their point, and this is unfortunate but if this happens again, please take care of it better. This is crazy to punish a guy like this, especially after their own behavior. This is the same team that started the season as the worst team in MLB, as well as misspelled their own name as the Natinals.

So I understand their point, but you are an organization that is drenched in mediocrity at best. Here’s hoping they will be okay in the future, and maybe stop embarrassing themselves in the eyes of the public. I’m sure their Redskin waiting fans of DC , will love to hear less mess come from their baseball team.

Before I end this, congrats to the Great Falls Little League Baseball. They’re the true class in this entire situation.

Roasting the Detroit Lions

We need to roast the Detroit Lions.
I’m not talking about the Thanksgiving Turkey type of roast, or Bar-B-Q a pig on an open fire. Oh no. I’m referring to the humorous types of roast. We do it all the time to comedy legends to even sport stars. Usually it’s all done with great fun plus the money raised goes to a charity.

Now it’s high time for the Detroit Lions to be on that list. They’re awful, the worst team in the NFL, and let’s face it , ripe for a roast. You could have comedians or people representing most of the cities, or maybe teams on their schedule, or then again people from the organization. I don’t care, and could see great things for the NFL. They already have a variety of means to get their sport out there. I mean, this is an organization that actually has people to watch teams draft players. Draft players. Some genuinely watch combines. Unbelievable. So at least, let’s start roasting the worst teams in the league.

Every year we should take the worst team, put them on comedy central and roast them. Then of course, like all good roasts, allow them to snap back. It’s all in good fun. It gets the anger out, especially from fans, and then the money can go to a good cause by the choice of the team being roasted. In addition, I don’t think we should stop there. I believe we should do this for NBA, MLB, and NHL. Especially the NHL. They need to get people to watch so anything will be positive for them.

Here is there name and link. I figure, if you have to speak on someone, then at least give people the chance to see for themselves. Maybe I'm crazy or a little to outspoken. http://www.soundersfc.com/

MLS Crazy names - The Sounders are you for real

I get that teams nowadays like to name their sport franchises after something that is important to the area or city. It makes sense, a little weird, but it makes sense. You want something to bind them all together.

However, enough already. I don’t believe teams like the Chicago Bears would feel any different if they called themselves the Chicago Wind. Then again the San Diego Padres the San Diego Wildfires or Illegal Immigrants. Please enough with this. Just name a team because it sounds good. Period.

Teams like the Houston Texans, Washington Nationals, and now the stupid sounding Seattle Sounders. What!!!? The Sounders. I get it. It’s because of the Puget Sound. Aw, that’s cute, but enough already. There’s nothing wrong with naming your teams after random wild life, or natural disasters. It’s nice, it’s great. Plus it allows people in other cities actually want to root for you. Like the Dallas Cowboys have a fan base all over America.

But who in their right mind would root for the Sounders, living in Saint Louis. No one. In case you don’t know, the Sounders is a new MLS team. But I notice the MLS have a bunch of random names. My hometown has the Crew. Because “they’re the hardest working team in America.” Stop It!! That’s awful. They look like a bunch of bees, so I figure go with the Hornets or something. DC, Tornoto, Salt Lake, Dallas, and some random team named Chivas (wherever that is), don’t even have nicknames. I guess because world cities do it that way. Good idea MLS do something that we as America even more don’t care about. You want us to care and you do that. Wonderful. Just great. Then there are the Galaxy, Dynamo and Revolution. What is a Dynamo?

Who sits around making these names up. I can’t believe these people have important jobs and create and think of stuff. How do they make money. And so much money that they can buy teams and put dumb names to them.

So maybe it’s just the MLS? Naw, it’s everywhere, but this particular sport, seems to love crazy sounding names. I guess they figure it’s one way to make a name for themselves. I just hope that some of the future teams (Philly, Portland, and Vancouver) will have great team names. Then again, if you have a great name and no one watches your sport, do any one really care.

So thanks Sounders for the unbelievable bad name. The Sounders, you can do better then that. Then again, as I look at the rest of your MLS brethren, maybe not.

And now there is four

Anyone excited about this year’s final four. I am, because we’re seeing some of the top teams all year long duke it out. I’m in the Big Ten conference so it’s great to see a representative be in the final four. So many analyst was hating on the Big Ten and how we suck. However, we’re not that bad of a conference and our best can do a good job and be in the final four. Take that nation!

Sorry I had to say that but we’ve been taking a lot of heat. Our best, Michigan State beat the Big East best, Louisville on a neutral floor. Case closed. We’re not that bad.

Now we get to see North Carolina take on Villanova while UConn and MSU battle it out in Detroit. Speaking of which, that city needs help. They need an influx of cash to go into that city and state, because right now, they’re dying and is strapped for cash. So please, Husky, Tar Heel, and Wildcat fans….join the Spartans and go to that city. I hear there’s all kinds of entertainment for you to sink your teeth into, so please by all means do it. Have fun, and put some cash into that area.

Now for some picks. UNC will beat Villanova, but it will be close. Not like Nova-Pitt close, but it should be an excellent game. The Tar Heels can go up and down or play set offense. It doesn’t matter. As long as no one is injured, then they should win. It’s very rare to see that many future pros decide to stay. I hope more young people do this for their respective teams, but we’ll see.

I also believe that the much malign UConn will beat MSU. Not by much, this should also be a great game. Sparty is much better then expected, but I think the Huskies are really on point. Also, MSU will turn the ball over. Just you wait and see. UConn is better then Louisville, so Michigan State will find out how tough it is to go up against that team.

As for the champion, UNC 75, UConn 70. It’ll come down to free throws at the end when UNC is ahead and the Huskies will have to foul to slow the game down. But it should be a classic. Not Magic/Bird classic, but a great game nevertheless.

Enjoy yourselves and stay tuned.
